A woman who killed four in a head-on car accident near Pala Casino in 2007 plead guilty to gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated and drunken driving causing injury. She is expected to serve 18 years in prison.

The woman entered her plea before the trials was supposed to begin its second day. The first trial resulted in a hung jury.

According to police reports, the California woman admitted to drinking and driving and smoking methamphetamines prior to the fatal accident. While she was driving, she crossed the center line and struck an oncoming car head-on, killing the two couples in the other car. The woman was driving a GMC Yukon Denali.

After a fatal San Diego car accident, the family of the deceased may have the right to file a civil suit against the at-fault driver for lost wages, pain and suffering, medical expenses and end of life expenses. Compensation won't bring back a loved one but it can help to alleviate the stress following the death of a spouse or parent.
