Three women were killed when their Ski Doo personal watercraft collided with a boat on the Los Angeles County Reservoir on Saturday. The fatal accident is still under investigation to determine the cause. Law enforcement officers closed the area of the boat accident Sunday to collect evidence and investigate the crash.
Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department officials said that a 34-year-old woman, her 53-year-old mother and another 47-year-old woman were riding on the Ski Doo when they collided with a 21-foot boat in the popular water sport area. Officials are trying to determine whether alcohol or drugs were involved in the fatal accident.
Law enforcement officers have stated that the driver of the boat was not under the influence of alcohol at the time of the collision. Four people aboard the boat were also injured in the collision.
Similar to car accidents, boat accidents can cause catastrophic and even fatal injuries. Boaters in the Los Angeles and San Diego area need to be mindful of other watercrafts and boats. After an injury-causing boat crash, it is important to seek the advice of a skilled personal injury attorney.
