A stunt man for the movie character of Ed Helms was hurt during the filming of the film "Hangover 2." The Australian stunt man claimed that he suffered permanent brain injury according to documents filed in a Los Angeles federal court.

A veteran performer, the man was injured during a head-on car crash at high speed while filming the movie on location in Thailand. The accident, which occurred last year, resulted in the stunt man being placed in a drug-induced coma for two months after the accident.

Nearly a year after the crash, the stunt performer continues to suffer from a variety of ailments including speech difficulties and problems with seizures that occur regularly. He also suffers from brain trauma and has been enduring rehabilitation and intense therapy.

Unable to return to work, the stunt performer is suing to cover medical and other life expenses, but did not list an amount of damages sought in the lawsuit. Medical bills for a brain injury can grow quickly, especially if therapy and medication is required. The costs can only escalate if the injury requires life-long care.

In the court filing, the stunt performer named the movie studio, the second-unit director of the film along with the coordinator for stunts. The suit alleges that the accident happened after the stunt coordinator changed certain aspects of the car crash stunt while it was in progress. The timing of the stunt was altered to include an unplanned increase that resulted in the collision that led to the brain injury.

All this information will likely be considered in court to determine if compensation should be awarded to the stunt man.
