Firefighters worked hard to keep a brush fire in check today in an area of California north of Los Angeles. As many California residents know, brush fires can quickly grow out of control, consuming everything in its way including people's homes.

But this particular bush fire initially started because of a plane crash that occurred on Sunday morning this past weekend. Information about the crash is minimal, possibly due to the fire that resulted. However it appears that a small private plane crashed; two people aboard, including the pilot, were killed.

Typically when a plane crash occurs, an investigation is launched in order to determine the cause of the crash. Was it a mechanical error? Could it have been caused by a manufacturer defect? Was someone negligent when prepping the plane for flight? Had it been pilot error?

No matter what the cause of the crash, there are almost always injuries and sometimes even deaths. Plane crashes not only impact the people on board but their families as well.

But in this particular instance, the plane crash caused a lot of destruction by sparking the fire. At this point, authorities believe that the fire has destroyed a dozen homes and has forced hundreds of people to evacuate the area as well. Firefighters are working to contain the fire.

Hopefully once the fire is contained, law enforcement will be able to determine what happened to the plane. The families of the two victims probably have a lot of questions about the crash and whether it could have been prevented. If it is discovered that the crash was the result of someone else's negligence, the families could seek to hold the negligent party responsible by filing a wrongful death claim.
