You didn't really think the Toyota mess was over, did you?  Just when Toyota thought it had taken sufficient action to deal with their potential products liability problem, a new car started having brake issues. This time, it's the fuel efficient and nouveau-Hollywood chic Prius.

The Prius somehow escaped the recall last week.

The eco-friendly compact hybrid has been generating consumer complaints in Japan, including one case of a car accident last July, where a Prius crashed head-on into another car at an intersection.

San Diego personal injury attorneys find this news particularly relevant, since the entire recall was prompted after a fatal accident involving brake pedals in a Lexus, just outside San Diego.  The incident involved the brake pedal becoming stuck under oversized floor mats.  The incident followed several complaints of the same issue with the same car within the time preceding the accident.

Toyota announced last week that it had a fix for the brake pedal problem.  But despite the progress Toyota is making in this recall, the setbacks are numerous.  The personal injury lawsuits now adding up, further aggravating Toyota's host of problems and concerns.

The news of the Prius complaints is unfortunate for Toyota, whose shares plummeted in recent days on news of last week's recall.  The Prius is Toyota's best-selling gas-electric hybrid and this news only seeks to sink Toyota's image further.

But sometimes, image is the price to pay if you want to keep the personal injury attorneys at bay.
